First entry October 5th 2008
I want to start off by saying that I often think much faster than I can type and that my punctuation is sloppy and my sentence structure leaves much to be desired I will attempt on most occasions to go back and fix errors before I post but I wont always have time and hope that you will bear with me. This blog is meant to serve many purposes. Mostly to be honest it is to give me an outlet for some of my feelings and frustrations but it is also meant to be informative to people considering putting their infants in childcare . I have been working in accredited centers for a total of 9 years and have also provided care in my home. As well as care for a parent who died of Alzheimer's . OK brief history. 3 children _ 8 grands _ 3 different daycare centers all 3 NAEYC accredited which is supposed to indicate that they are the best of the best. First and foremost choosing to put a child in care is often emotional. Most of the woman I work with get this and we do desire to make you feel comfortable and safe with us. We usually do fall in love with each child in our care, truly. That doesn't mean that I think your child belongs with us or anyone else except you. I meet many mothers who have no choice economically they have to put bread on the table. I also meet many who work just to have a better car etc.......they say they have to work , what they really don't realize is that they are saying they need more stuff to feel important . Occasionally we do have a mom who is honest enough to say I could stay home but its harder than I thought and I'm a better mom part time cause I love my job. Hallelujah to them, be honest with yourself, it will make you a better mom. Reasons why your child will be OK with us is like I said we really do fall in love with them. Reasons why you may want to consider staying home if you can They will get sick, They will bond to us, They will eventually cry when you leave, They will not get one on one ,They will have to wait for their bottles, sometimes they will have to wait to get picked up, most times they wont nap as well as at home. OK that's enough for now. I will start next time with stories of actual children from the past no real names no locations will be revealed just to give a idea what a day may be like for them.. Take care , JustNancy
